The Seafood Restaurants run two separate restaurants in Scotland; one set over the expansive beaches of the famous golfing town of St Andrews and the other set overlooking the historic and charming fishing harbour of St Monans, a mere 20 minutes away.

I was absolutely delighted to undertake this project at the request of Tim Butler from The Seafood Restaurant. It was fantastic experience. I have no idea how Head Chef, Douglas, managed to produce such visual art in full view of the restaurants customers it was a joy to watch the completed dishes delivered to the awaiting guests.

Sitauations like this make me feel incredibly fortunate to be a photographer. The people that I come into contact with and the situations I find myself in are often beyond my lifes experiences. It never ceases to amaze me how significant and succesful the next person I meet is or how outstanding the photographic opportunity is.

I had an awesome pleasure photographing 4 Audi Q7′s for the team at Pittormie Castle just outside St Andrews this week. The cars on loan from Audi for the open golf championship 2010 held at St Andrews, Scotland, made an excellent association with the luxury brand that is Pittormie. It was a really demanding day and I was so glad to see the pool at the end of it. I’d like to say a special thank you to both Stuart McCreddie and James Deen from the Eden Club for an awesome day which passed without a hitch.

We are launching the Strathkinness Summer Special at Strathkinness Primary School Sports Day tommorow (30th of June 2010). It’s summer and the weather has been glorious. With the Schools finishing this weekend it’s the ideal time to book a family portrait session. To help out with costs we are offering residents of Strathkinness a complementary lifestyle photography session.

We are comfortable photographing toddlers to teenagers, mums and dads too. It all takes an hour or two; you can change clothes – if you would like something formal and then a bit more laid back. We like to start where you live, some photographs around the house and then to the beach or the woods, wherever you like really.

I was recently asked by makeup artist Sandra Cormack to photograph Norma Douglas and Deniska Cargill at Perth Races. The weather was absolutley stunning and the girls really did us proud. Sandra made a fantastic comment on the way home: “All the guys were staring and all the girls were glaring”

The Session wouldnt have been possible without access to Perth Races and stunning clothes from the Perth branch of Phase 8 At the time of the shoot Norma was a highly placed contestant in this years Miss Scotland competition.

This gathering together of models, organisers and fashion wear wouldn’t have been possible without the organisational abilities of Sandra who is a highly skilled and talented Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist. Sandra is based in Dundee but travels widely.

We have sold two framed prints this week which led to a request for this image from my website. There is usually a good story behind my images and this is one of my favourites.

I don’t know why I’m attracted to this bridge. Perhaps I understand the econonic importance of bridges living in an area of Scotland which is accessed by two bridges, The Forth Road Bridge and the Tay Road Bridge. I think though the attraction stems from great photographs and American cop programmes broadcast whilst I was growing up. Regardless, this bridge has always held a special place in my heart and I set my heart on photographing it one day – and I did.

My wife and I planned a trip to America, stopping off in San Fransisco, time was short and I started gathering information from locals as soon as I arrived in town. I was told to walk up Hyde, it’s a rather relentless steep hill, a real heart breaker. I got to the top and the bridge was miles away. Not to be put of I turned right and walked two blocks and came across a yellow cab. The time – 4 or 5 am and my deadline was Sunrise. The pressure was on.

The Golden Gate Bridge is miles out of town – gulp. The cab driver dropped me off at a car park, in the pitch black of night. I had no idea where to go. I could see the bridge but couldn’t get a clear shot. A police car drove up and being very understanding and possibly because I was Scottish he pointed me in the right direction. A picnic area. No ! It was pitch black still and I thought I wouldn’t live to see the light of day. I was expecting homeless people and drug dealers to appear out of the darkness. Eventually the light lifted enough and I spotted a path which took me down to a quayside where locals where illegally fishing for dungeness crab.

They made me very welcome and I even took pictures for a families Christmas Card. They had got up early to drive to the bridge to take a photo to send to family round the world and they used mine.

Two days later, the bridge wasn't visible due to mist. I used this opportunity to photograph the San Fransiscan Sky Line

I’ve in the past been called Fife’s leading portrait photographer. Thats certainly not an accolade I would ever take lightly and its for people with far more skill and experience than I to judge.

These images of Georgia, though I feel must capture all the things I aspire for in my photography. A bond between photographer, camera and subject, great light, the ability to create a scene and the capability to respond to the exact moment that magic happens. And that very special factor emotion.

I took the photographs on the West Sands at St Andrews and in Georgia’s garden.

These images have been lightly retouched to bring out the natural colours that existed at the time the photographs were taken. And also to remove the bumps, scrapes and runny noses that you would expect to see on an active and charming 3 year old. I couldn’t have risen to this level of perfection if it had not been for the help of my very dear friend Jennifer Clare whos is a constant source of inspiration to me.

I would never have claimed to be a food photographer. The energy and attention to detail that photographers apply to this discipline can be immense.

Always up for a challenge, I immediately took up Vikki Woods co owner of The Wee Restaurant, North Queensferry request to visit the restaurant to take photographs for their new website.

Craig’s food is simply stunning. The natural beauty of the presentation was breathtaking. When he took the time to describe how his food should be photographed, I discovered another dimension. All of a sudden we were talking about dripping butter, foam and bubbles, shine of sauces and on and on.

You can imagine that after an insight into Craig’s world which was perfectly aligned with my desire for quality and natural beauty, it wasn’t too difficult to capture some amazing shots.

I’m always exceptionally proud of my work. It never ceases to amaze what you can do with a camera and some light from a nearby window.

I would like to say thanks to Craig and Vikki and their two fantastic team members for giving me this fantastic opportunity.

I was recently asked to return to photograph the drama students dress rehearsals at The School of Theatre, The Space, Dundee College. The play this time was Shakespeares Loves labours Lost.

I had a great time and have received loads of great feedback from the students.

I recently ran a Couples Photography Promotion with The Wee Restaurant. The Wee Restaurant is situated in North Queensferry it’s owned and run by Craig and Vikki Wood. The restaurant has in the past received the Michelin’s award for restaurants offering “good food at moderate prices” only eight restaurants currently have this award in Scotland.

The first couple that took us up on my generous offer were Ashley and Donald Duncan. I’d like to say a special thank you to Craig and Vikki for this really special opportunity.

Ashley and Donald were very generous and shared lunch with me at their beautiful flat in Edinburgh, where we planned where to photograph. The choice of location is always up to my clients so we set off to have the majestic Forth Rail Bridge as our back drop. My heart was dropping through the floor, the bridge isn’t what it used to be. It was March. Close to rain. Very windy. There was no detail in the sky.

Ashley and Donald were absolute stars, their love for each other shone through the weather and inspired me to take these great shots.
